Bookkeeping for tax

Books kept by people who know what the tax return needs from them — so filing season is a formality, not a project.

Overview

What this service is — and why it matters

Most tax problems start in the books: personal expenses mixed with business ones, missing receipts, categories that don’t match the return, and accounts that haven’t been reconciled in months. By the time it reaches a preparer, fixing it is slow and expensive.

We keep your books monthly with the tax return in mind. Every account is reconciled to the statement, transactions are categorized to a chart of accounts mapped to your return, and receipts and mileage are documented the way the IRS expects.

Each month you get a short, readable profit and loss. And because the same team prepares your return and your estimates, the numbers flow straight into planning without re-work.

Questions

Common questions

Which accounting software do you use?

We work in the major cloud accounting platforms. If you’re already set up in one, we’ll usually keep it; if not, we’ll recommend one that fits your business.

How far behind can I be?

We regularly catch up a year or more of books from bank and card statements. It’s quoted as a one-time project before monthly work begins.

Is bookkeeping required to work with you?

No. It’s an optional add-on. If you already have a bookkeeper you trust, we’ll work with them.

Do I still need to keep receipts?

Yes, for many expenses. We set up a simple capture system so it takes seconds, and we tell you which expenses need what support.
